At Thornham St. James, collective worship is at the heart of our school life, central to expressing our Christian ethos and our vision, "Journeying Together, We Shine." We see worship as an inclusive, invitational, and inspiring time where all members of our community, regardless of faith background, can explore Christian values and engage with questions about faith and spirituality.

Our worship sessions focus on values like compassion, community, wisdom, and thankfulness, often connecting these with Bible teachings to encourage reflection and growth. Each worship follows a structured approach, including music, prayer, Biblical reflection, and time for discussion, to help everyone connect spiritually and morally. We celebrate key Christian festivals with services held at our local church and encourage members of our community to participate in church activities.

Leadership in worship is shared among staff, the clergy, and sometimes the children themselves, creating a dynamic and engaging experience. The Ethos, Vision, and Worship Governors Sub-Committee regularly reviews our worship practices, gathering feedback from both pupils and governors to ensure it remains meaningful and impactful. All staff, guided by the headteacher and governors, support a respectful and welcoming environment for worship, with opportunities for quiet reflection and prayer. This shared approach helps us live out our vision, fostering a community where each member can shine their light within and beyond our school.
